In 1984 John Faulkner started a tree trimming business with nothing more than a pickup truck and a chain saw; his purpose was simple, to provide for his family. Formerly a trained jet engine mechanic in the United States Marine Corps, John says his primary area of study was “Hard Work.” Yet, even with such a humble beginning, God began to reveal a vision to John that through this business, countless lives could be impacted. As the business began to grow, John remained faithful to God, seeking His direction at every crossroad.
John expanded his operations and the services that he provided, including landscape design and installation services and began to see the profound impact that an honest, reliable and hard working business had on the lives of his employees and clients.
Cornerstone Solutions Group has now grown into one of the largest full-service landscape and construction companies in the Southeast with its corporate office in Dade City and satellite offices in Jacksonville, Sarasota, and Orlando. It provides large-scale landscape and irrigation installation services, landscape architecture, community maintenance, environmental services, wholesale nursery, pest control and fertilization as well as full construction and site development services.
Although Cornerstone provides a source of income for over 300 employees, it also provides an opportunity to be part of something great and to share the vision that God gave to John twenty eight years ago.
That vision is to build a culture that inspires its people to achieve goals that may never have been possible before. John’s biggest goal for himself and his employees – to do what you say you will do. Serving his clients is the top of his list of business priorities. John says, “I run a relationship-oriented company that builds and maintains relationships through service and commitment to integrity.”
Today, with a servant’s heart, both John and his wife Julie have worked with many Christian business owners, helping them solidify vision, strengthen culture and become more Kingdom-minded in the pursuit of their goals.
John and Julie have three wonderful children, Miranda, Nicole, and John Jr., two blessed son-in-laws, Brian and Chris and four amazing grandchildren, Hunter, Isabella, Elias and Owen.
John is involved with his church, a Christian businessman’s organization, LifeWork Leadership, and commits regularly to assisting with community development projects around the Tampa Bay area.
